| With urbanization transitioning from a phase of rapid expansion to a stage of steady development, traditional villages and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) are increasingly confronted with challenges such as resource depletion and spatial dislocation. It is therefore essential to clarify their patterns of interaction and underlying formation mechanisms from a spatial perspective. Taking 575 traditional villages and 142 ICH items in the Huizhou region of China as the study objects, this study applies the centroid model, spatial dislocation index, and geographic detector to examine the spatial associations and driving mechanisms between traditional villages and ICH. The results show that: 1) traditional villages and ICH display distinct spatial distribution patterns, characterized respectively by a “high-density in the east and low-density in the west” pattern and a “primary core agglomeration with secondary peripheral clusters”; 2) the centroids of traditional villages and ICH are spatially separated, and local spatial dislocation exhibits pronounced regional heterogeneity; and 3) the spatial dislocation between traditional villages and ICH is jointly driven by multiple factors, among which socio-economic factors such as GDP and road density, together with historical and cultural factors, play dominant roles in shaping their spatial associations. These findings help to elucidate the formation mechanisms underlying the spatial associations between traditional villages and ICH, and provide a scientific basis for integrating cultural heritage elements, promoting resource agglomeration, and supporting the coordinated development of cultural tourism and rural revitalization in the Huizhou region. |
